We process your personal information in order to carry out the legitimate interests of providing quotes for insurance policies, and to provide and administer any insurance policies taken up on your behalf.
How do we collect information from you?
We obtain information about you when you use our website, for example, when you contact us about products and services or if you register to receive regular information from us.
We also obtain information about you when you receive a quote, and if you go on to take out an insurance policy though Source Insurance.
What type of information is collected from you?

If you receive quotes or purchase an insurance policy from us, we will collect much more extensive personal information. If you purchase a product from us and pay by credit or debit card, your card information is not held by us, it is collected by our third-party payment processors, who specialise in the secure online capture and processing of credit/debit card transactions, as explained below.

We will hold your personal information on our systems only for as long as is necessary for the relevant activity.
Who has access to your information?

Third Party Service Providers working on our behalf: We may pass your information to our third party service providers, agents subcontractors and other associated organisations for the purposes of completing tasks and providing services to you on our behalf (for example to process payments and send information about your policy to you on our behalf). However, when we use third party service providers, we disclose only the personal information that is necessary to deliver the service and we have a contract in place that requires them to keep your information secure and not to use it for their own direct marketing purposes. Please rest assured that we will not release your information to third parties beyond Source Insurance Limited for them to use for their own direct marketing purposes, unless you have requested us to do so, or we are required to do so by law, for example, by a court order or for the purposes of prevention of fraud or other crime.
The Third Party Service Providers we use at the time of publication of this Privacy Policy are:
Adare Sec Limited – where you have opted to receive paper documents, we use this company to send your insurance documents and renewals to you. They will also send other letters to you, including any adjustment notices and cancellation notices. Where you have opted for eDocs, they will print and despatch any hard copy letters which need to be sent to you.
Hyve Ltd, Amazon Web Services Inc. and Microsoft Corporation – we use these companies to keep copies of all personal data provided to us as a back up in the event of our main office suffering a critical failure. It is common practice for companies to maintain a duplicate set of personal data so that it can be easily restored in the event that the main data is corrupted or destroyed by an event outside of the company’s control.
8×8 UK Limited – This company provides the software that we use to record telephone calls for training and monitoring purposes.
LiveChat. Inc – This company provides the software for our LiveChat system, which allows you to communicate with us online in real time. The contents of any communications you have with us through this channel are stored for a short amount of time within the EU.
LexisNexis – We are required, under UK regulations, to carry out an affordability assessment to ensure you can afford any credit used to pay your insurance premium. LexisNexis receive your personal details in order to help us meet this regulatory requirement.
Bottomline Technologies – This company provides the direct debit collection services which are used to collect your monthly payments.
Third Party Product Providers we work in association with: We work closely with various third party insurance providers to bring you a range of quality and reliable products and services designed to meet the needs of customers and prospective customers. When you enquire about or purchase one or more of our products, the relevant third party insurer may use your details to provide you with information and carry out their obligations arising from any contracts you have entered into with them. In some cases, they will be acting as a data controller of your information and therefore we advise you to read their Privacy Policy. These third parties will share your information with us which we will use in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
When you are paying for a policy online, your payment is processed by a third party payment processor, WorldPay (UK) Limited, who specialises in the secure online capture and processing of credit/debit card transactions. If you have any questions regarding secure transactions, please contact us.
If you pay by direct debit, we work with Barclays Bank plc to provide the funds to pay your insurance premium. As a result, Barclays Bank Plc will routinely carry out audits of our systems, and as part of this process they may receive your personal data.
We may transfer your personal information to a third party in order to process a policy proposal and assets to any third party or as part of any business restructuring or reorganisation, or if we’re under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, to comply with a request from our regulators or to enforce or apply our terms of use or to protect the rights, property or safety of our supporters and customers. However, we will take appropriate steps with the aim of ensuring that your privacy rights continue to be protected.
Your choices
You have a choice about whether you wish to receive information from us. If you do not want to receive direct marketing communications from us about the products and services which we offer, then you can select your choices by ticking the relevant boxes situated on the form or web page on which we collect your information.

If you choose to pay for your policy by direct debit, our systems will analyse your personal data to assess your credit worthiness. Assessing your creditworthiness takes into account several factors, including such things as whether you appear on the voters roll and whether you have any county court judgements.
We may analyse your personal information to create a profile of your interests and preferences so that we can contact you with information relevant to you. We may make use of additional information about you when it is available from external sources to help us do this effectively.
